New Advanced AEGD/MPH Program

Objective:   Prepare dentists to work in underserved communities, whether urban or rural, to gain valuable knowledge and experience in both clinical dentistry, public health, health promotion, strategic and financial planning, and management of community health or dental clinics.

Requirements: Completion of D.M.D. degree and first year of AEGD training in a CODA approved school.  Eligibility for dental license to practice in Pennsylvania. 

Program Structure:  

Year One: Complete 2nd year of AEGD training at Kornberg School of Dentistry.  The program will focus on developing advanced knowledge and skills in diagnosis, treatment planning, prosthodontics, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, implants and restorative dentistry.

Year Two:  Spend 30% of time as staff dentist in the school’s Community Clinic while taking core MPH classes at Temple University’s College of Health Professions.

Year Three:  Spend 70% of time as staff dentist in the school’s Community Clinic while finishing MPH elective classes and final project.
