Dental Research

Dentists trained as researchers are scientists who contribute significantly to improving health care nationally and internationally. Many researchers are faculty members at universities; others work in federal facilities such as the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) or in the private sector. In addition, some dental students and practicing dentists, at various points in their careers, may decide that they would benefit from participation in a research experience.

For those individuals, postdoctoral fellowships and research opportunities are available in a variety of areas and are sponsored by public and private organizations. Support is given to individuals who are still dental students as well as those who have graduated from dental school.  Loan repayment programs are also available.
